Stock repair and refinishing.

I am a master woodworker coming from 8 generations of carpenters to coopers so its in my blood. I have a full master woodshop complete with stationary equipment.

I can refinish and repair gunstocks including checkering. I can repair most split, cracked and dented stocks, as well as fix checkering.

Since the spectrum of work is so wide its very hard to give any set prices. Though emails and pictures I can get you prices on work.

I understand if you have an old favorite hunting gun that you would like to be decent and serviceable but not spend more than the gun is worth in fixing it up problem. I would work with you doing any varying degree of work and just sending it to me for what you can not do.

Trigger work

I offer trigger work on the Ruger 22 pistol, from improving the factory triggers to fitting aftermarket replacements for them.

I also do 1911 Pistols , Remington rifle (all types) Winchester rifles, triggers. Repairing to total replacement and refitting.

Custom work on Ruger 10/22 rifle.

This is an amazing rifle quite capable of being very accurate and reliable. I have shot a club sponsored 22 rifle league for many years and have built several guns to compete in this sport. We shoot both outdoors at 25 yards, and indoors in the winter. The guns I build will quite easily hold the X ring (about half the size of a dime) and normally that's one jagged hole, with good ammo. I have the first place trophies to prove its not just talk either. The improvements you can make on these guns are diverse, and many improvements give very marginal improvements over the stock condition, so its important you know what each improvements will give you, so you will not be disappointed with the results.

Re-barreling services: with your choice of barrel $50.00 plus barrel. For some modifiers just a shorter factory barrel is perfect. I cut the heavy lug and front sight off the barrel and then a scope mount is fitted to the receiver. The gun is then much lighter and better balanced. $80.00 scope mount not included. Note: most barrel replacements are not made because of accuracy, but for other reasons such as weight or looks, many factory barrels are very accurate.

Bolt improvements: I like to just clean up the tolerances of the factory bolt, I have found that almost always the factory bolt provides more than satisfactory performance after its worked over. This impovement is made only after a trigger job and ammo testing have been done. If stringing of shot groups is a problem then this is probably the culprit. If your groups are creating flyers and its not ammo, then this again is probably the problem. Many accuracy issues are because of the large tolerances and roughness in the bolt, and the barrel often gets blamed. Reworking factory bolt $45.00.

Trigger jobs  on stock triggers that will make the trigger smooth and nice down to about 3.5#. The cost of this service is $40 for the metal housing trigger $45.00 if the housing is plastic plus shipping. Ammo testing. Each gun will always have a favorite ammo and even a lot number in that ammo. Although lot numbers will always change, once you find a flavor of ammo that your gun likes it will make a huge difference when trying to get the tightest groups. I will test your gun and record the results, buy testing in a controlled rest, using from 8 to 9 different 22 ammo samples. I will not use the high end stuff as most guys don't want to spend $20 on a 100 rounds of 22's. I will test the mid to low grade target and standard velocity ammo, (S+K jagd, Eley, CCI,)   for both function and accuracy. You will get the test target, (shot at 25 yard for all types of ammo  tested, and 50 yard target for the 3 types that preformed the best) conditions it was shot in, and the ammo description and group size for each.  This type of testing is a pain in the neck and takes a lot of time but gives information you can not get any other way. $130.00.  You will not receive any ammo with this service only information on what ammo to buy for your gun.
